Preschool Disabled Program

The Children's Institute has a full day program for preschool disabled students ages 3 to 5. For those preschool students with Autism, and Pervasive Developmental Delays, and Applied Behavior Analysis approach is utilized. Instruction is given with a 2:1 staff, pupil ratio and emphasized the following skill areas:
  • Language
  • Imitation
  • Social behavior
  • Appropriate independent play
  • Cooperative peer play
  • Self care
Two days a week the preschool class in integrated with typically functioning same age peers. During that time the following skills are emphasized:
  • Pragmatic language
  • Socialization
  • Cooperative play
  • Imaginative play
